Helsinki, Finland, July 23, 2026 — Aiven, the Finnish cloud data platform company, said on Thursday that it had acquired Flow AI, a local technology company focused on infrastructure for production-grade analytical AI agents, in a deal that underscores how quickly the race is shifting from building AI models to operationalizing them inside enterprise systems. The acquisition is intended to speed up Aiven’s product roadmap and make it easier for customers to run AI applications securely and at scale on top of live production data.
The move reflects a broader change in how companies are approaching artificial intelligence: not simply as a layer of chat or automation, but as a new interface for interacting with data itself. Aiven said the combination of its managed open-source data platform and Flow AI’s agent infrastructure is designed to remove the technical complexity that often slows AI projects before they reach production.
“Agents are only as good as the infrastructure serving them — the freshness of the data, the reliability of the context, and the quality of evaluations they are exposed to,” Oskari Saarenmaa, Aiven’s chief executive and co-founder, said in a statement.
“We are building towards a unified platform that brings together agent-native tooling and production data, so customers can confidently run AI workloads in production,” he said.
Flow AI’s team has been building production AI systems since 2020. Its first product, Flowrite, became one of the early widely adopted AI productivity tools, reaching hundreds of thousands of users, before the company turned to the more difficult problem of making AI agents act safely and reliably over structured data at scale. Flow AI said it provides the runtime, data layer and evaluation tools that allow software companies to embed customer-facing AI agents directly into their products.
“We’ve spent years making AI work on real data and were involved in the evolution from the earliest LLMs to today’s agentic systems,” said Aaro Isosaari, Flow AI’s chief executive and co-founder.
“Bringing our harness, evaluation and context work onto that foundation lets us ship agents to far more teams than we could reach alone,” he said.
The acquisition comes during a period of rapid expansion for Aiven, which has said it surpassed a $100 million annual run rate in 2025 and has recently introduced products including Inkless, a managed context layer for DataHub and Aiven Apps in early availability. Aiven said the Flow AI deal is its third acquisition.
Aiven describes itself as an open data platform for production AI, offering managed Kafka, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Valkey, OpenSearch and DataHub across major clouds including AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. The company says its services are built on genuine open source and are designed to keep data portable and avoid vendor lock-in.
Flow AI is backed by Project A, Lifeline Ventures and Seedcamp, according to the company. The startup says its technology is built for analytical agents that need reliable context, structured planning and auditable execution inside enterprise environments.
