Liège, Belgium — September 1, 2026Amyl Therapeutics (“Amyl Tx”), a preclinical-stage biotech developing a platform to treat amyloid-related neurodegenerative diseases, today announced the completion of an €8.25M ($9.4M) extension of its Series A financing. Backed evenly by private investors and public grants, the round will fund the in vivo efficacy and safety studies needed to validate the company’s platform and move its lead candidate toward GMP manufacturing.

The financing comes as capital for early-stage European biotechs remains sharply selective — a signal of sustained investor confidence in Amyl Tx’s differentiated science and execution.

What the new funding unlocks

  • Milestone-readiness: Final development of a fully characterized clinical candidate ready for GMP manufacturing.
  • Platform validation: Remaining preclinical in vivo efficacy and safety data to de-risk the pipeline.
  • Organizational scale-up: A new lead family office investor joins the board, the Liège laboratory at the LegiaPark life sciences campus is expanding, and R&D headcount will double.

Executive and investor perspectives

“This financing is an important endorsement of both our science and our vision, said Pierre Vandepapelière, co-founder, CEO and CMO. “Our results demonstrate that our fusion protein combines the therapeutic strengths of three monoclonal antibodies while addressing key limitations in brain delivery and safety. Ultimately, our aim is a genuine breakthrough for the millions of people living with devastating neurodegenerative diseases.”

“We have continued to invest in Amyl Therapeutics because its platform has the potential to redefine how neurodegenerative diseases are treated,” said Valérie Calenda, managing partner at Merieux Equity Partners. “The team consistently delivers on scientific milestones, and this financing provides resources for the critical data that will strengthen the company’s clinical path.”

“As a long-standing shareholder, Noshaq has witnessed steady scientific progress and the unwavering commitment of Amyl’s team,” said Hélène Sabatel, investment manager at Noshaq. “We are proud to continue supporting Amyl as it reaches the pivotal in vivo milestones positioning it for its next phase of growth.”

A pan-amyloid platform with a differentiation edge

Where approved antibody therapies each target a single pathological protein, Amyl Tx is engineering one therapy — a fusion protein designed to recognize and neutralize the shared amyloid structure common to amyloid beta, tau and alpha-synuclein, the toxic aggregates underlying Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and related disorders.

Two further design advantages set the platform apart:

  • A ‘brain shuttle’ technology substantially enhances blood-brain barrier penetration, overcoming a key limitation of existing biologics.
  • The therapeutic is engineered to reduce the risk of ARIA (Amyloid-Related Imaging Abnormalities) and anemia seen with current anti-amyloid-beta antibodies, supporting a potentially superior safety profile.

A maturing financial position

Building since launch, the company’s funding now totals €27.85M

Stage Amount
Launch (March 2021), incl. €5.1M in-kind for IP and €2.2M grants €10.8M
Shareholder investment, 2023–2024 €5.0M
Non-dilutive support, Walloon Region €3.8M
Series A extension (today) €8.25M
Total €27.85M

The round was advised by THM Capital Advisory (led by Thomas Mitard), with legal counsel from Quinz and financial support from Financial Way.

About Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease is one of the largest unmet medical needs globally. According to Alzheimer’s Disease International, more than 55 million people were living with dementia as of 2020 — a figure projected to exceed 139 million by 2050. Alzheimer’s alone accounts for up to 70% of dementia cases. Despite recent therapeutic breakthroughs, current treatments remain modest in efficacy, limited in scope and burdened with safety concerns.

About Amyl Therapeutics

Amyl Therapeutics is a preclinical-stage biotech pioneering Multi-Amyloid Immunotherapy — a universal approach to treating amyloid-mediated neurodegenerative disease. Amyloid aggregates are implicated in more than 30 disorders, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and dementia with Lewy bodies. The pan-amyloid binding and fibril-remodeling capabilities of its candidates position them to be maximally effective, transforming therapeutics for this disease group.

Headquartered in Liège, Belgium, Amyl Therapeutics was founded in November 2020 by Dr. Florent Gros and Dr. Pierre Vandepapelière and employs eight staff. Founding investors include Noshaq, Merieux Equity Partners, Smedvig Funds, JFG Life Science Foundation, 6K Venture Capital and others.
