JIC Ventures Backs Carebot in a Bet on Medical A.I. That Doctors Actually Use

The Czech fund’s second investment in European medtech reflects a growing belief that the real test of medical artificial intelligence is not regulatory approval, but whether clinicians trust it enough to rely on it.

Brno, Czech Republic — Aug. 4, 2026JIC Ventures, a Brno-based investment fund, has backed Carebot, a Czech medical artificial intelligence company whose software is now used in hundreds of hospitals across more than 10 countries.

The investment, part of Carebot’s largest financing round to date, comes as the company looks to expand after showing strong adoption among radiologists and hospital systems. The round totals more than €1.5 million and was led by Garage Angels and Electron Capital Partners.

For JIC Ventures, the appeal of Carebot was not simply that the company had built a functioning product or secured the necessary certifications. In a crowded field of medical A.I. startups, the fund said, what mattered was evidence that doctors were already relying on the software in their daily work.

That distinction has become central in medical technology, where a CE mark or other regulatory clearance may indicate safety, but says little about whether a product will be widely used. Many tools never make it past the last and hardest stage: persuading clinicians to trust them.

Carebot appears to have cleared that hurdle. Over the past year, the company tripled the number of hospitals using its software and increased contracted monthly recurring revenue by 750 percent, according to the company. Signed contracts suggest revenue could grow more than tenfold by the end of 2026.

The company now has three CE-certified products: Carebot AI CXR, which analyzes chest X-rays; AI Bones, which is designed to detect fractures; and Carebot AI MMG, which assists radiologists reading mammograms in breast cancer screening. Its software is used in Europe, the Middle East and Vietnam.

The investment also reflects JIC Ventures’ broader view of the sector, one shaped by another recent deal in medical technology. Earlier this year, the fund backed HTG Medical, another Czech company, whose device automates the measurement of urine output in intensive care units and feeds the data directly into hospital systems.

The logic, in both cases, is similar: the winners in medical technology are not necessarily the companies that reach the lab first, but the ones that become embedded in hospital routines.

“Radiologists described situations where Carebot flagged a finding that might otherwise have been missed,” Radim Kocourek, managing partner of JIC Ventures, said in a statement. “It is precisely that combination — the trust of doctors and effective deployment in hospitals — on which a European leader can be built.”

Carebot is now seeking a larger round of up to €10 million to support its expansion, including the hiring of commercial and local teams and the development of new products. The company also said it is working with global pharmaceutical companies on partnerships.

“This year we’ll confirm our current pace of growth, strengthen the team and bring new tools to market that help catch disease earlier,” Matěj Misař, Carebot’s chief executive, said in a statement. “Our goal stays the same throughout: to make A.I. a standard part of healthcare.”
