JSK Investments SICAV a.s. Backs U.S. Medtech Startup Andromeda Surgical

Prague, Czech Republic – September 17, 2026 – JSK Investments SICAV a.s., a leading Czech investment fund, today announced its participation in the Series A funding round for Andromeda Surgical, a San Francisco-based developer of an autonomous surgical platform. The round raised $15 million, bringing the company’s total funding to $30 million.

Andromeda Surgical is developing an AI-native, software-driven platform designed to democratize access to advanced surgical procedures. By addressing the global shortage of trained specialists and the steep learning curve associated with complex interventions, the platform aims to allow hospitals to offer specialized care without requiring a narrowly focused expert on site.

The company’s initial focus is HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate), a specialized urological procedure. Andromeda’s platform is designed to shorten surgeon training time and is already entering its commercial phase. The Series A capital will be deployed primarily for regulatory processes, manufacturing and deployment of commercial units, and further development of autonomous features.

A Strategic Partnership in Healthcare and Deep Tech

JSK Investments SICAV a.s. was drawn to Andromeda’s combination of an experienced founding team, a clinically validated product, and a clearly defined global challenge.

“What convinced us about Andromeda was the combination of an experienced founding team, a clinically validated product, and a clearly defined problem of global scale,” said Petra Cihlářová, Investment Director of Venture Capital at JSK Investments SICAV a.s. “Surgical robotics today can improve precision and ergonomics, but it still runs into a shortage of trained specialists and a long learning curve. Andromeda takes a software-driven approach, and its AI-native platform can progressively learn from every procedure. That combination of technological ambition and a concrete clinical need is exactly what we look for in an investment.”

Andromeda Surgical was founded in San Francisco in 2023 by Nick Damiano and Kartik Tiwari, who met through Y Combinator’s Co-Founder Matching program. Damiano brings deep experience in healthcare technology development, while Tiwari offers a background in autonomous vehicles—two fields that converge in the development of the autonomous surgical platform.

“JSK is a strong and reliable investment partner for us as we build the future of autonomous surgery,” said Nick Damiano, Co-Founder and CEO of Andromeda Surgical. “We greatly value their extensive healthcare experience and their network across Europe. On top of that, they’ve built their own company, so they understand firsthand what it takes to build a successful business.”

Aligning with Long-Term Investment Priorities

The investment in Andromeda Surgical aligns with JSK Investments SICAV a.s.’s core focus areas: healthcare and cutting-edge technology.

“The investment in Andromeda Surgical connects two of our long-term investment priorities: healthcare and cutting-edge technology,” said Simona Kijonková, Chairwoman of the Board and Chief Investment Officer at JSK Investments SICAV a.s. “Projects that use technological innovation to solve concrete healthcare problems while also having the potential to succeed in the global market are exactly the kind of opportunity we’re looking for.”
