Amsterdam-based proptech startup Getplace.io empowers brick-and-mortar businesses with data-driven location decisions

B2B SaaS company Getplace.io secures pre-seed funding from Antler VC to roll out its first products in the UK market

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) looking to open a new brick-and-mortar store know how crucial location is for their success. However, with limited data available, the decision-making process is more of an art than a science. Enter Amsterdam-based proptech startup Getplace.io, which aims to equip SMBs with the data and insights needed to make informed decisions about store locations.

Lack of Data Hinders SMBs

The Covid-19 pandemic led to a drop in the number of brick-and-mortar stores in 2020. However, retailers in the US reported twice as many store openings as closings in 2021. This shows that brick-and-mortar stores remain an important channel for sales. Yet, location remains the most important factor for success in retail, according to industry insiders. SMBs must consider a range of factors such as accessibility, visibility, traffic, competition, neighbors, and location costs. However, with limited data available, SMBs often go into the process practically blind, making the decision-making process a challenging one.

Data-Driven Decision Making with Getplace.io

Getplace.io aims to change that. The proptech B2B SaaS startup combines various data sets such as footfall, vehicle traffic, demographics, financial insights, competition level, and others, to provide comprehensive tools for data-driven decision-making. Founded in the beginning of 2023 by Denis Chernobaev and Sergey Shсherbak, Getplace.io has raised pre-seed funding from Antler VC to launch its first products in the UK market.

“For the past six years of my life, I was driving a fast-growing food-tech startup as a member of the leadership team. We opened more than 900 stores in 16 countries and gained a lot of experience in finding the best location for the new stores. Now, with Getplace.io, we want to empower these other small and medium sized businesses to make more strategic data-driven decisions that set them up for success right from the beginning”, explains Denis Chernobaev, Co-Founder, and CEO of Getplace.io.

Product Offerings

The startup already has two products on the market. The first product focuses on comparing the opportunities between different locations that a business is already considering. The second product is a heatmap of pedestrian traffic in the UK. With the funding from Antler, Getplace.io is expanding its product selection to help SMBs make more informed decisions.

“The Getplace.io team brings together a great combination of deep industry knowledge, an agile ‘can do’ mentality, and amazing technical capabilities. Antler is pleased to be the first investor in the company that empowers traditional brick and mortar store owners with new age online tools that leverage vast amounts of data to expand their business to today’s market demands”, says Ronald Jan Schuurs, Partner at Antler.

Aiming to Expand into More European Markets

While the UK market was chosen as the startup’s first market, Getplace.io is already looking into expanding into other European markets. By providing comprehensive data and insights, Getplace.io aims to help SMBs make informed decisions about the location of their brick-and-mortar stores, thereby reducing the risk of failure.

Getplace.io’s tools bring a new level of visibility into scouting for a new store location. By empowering SMBs with the insights they would not have access to otherwise, Getplace.io is democratizing data-driven decision-making. In today’s competitive retail landscape, data-driven decision-making can make all the difference for SMBs looking to succeed. Getplace.io is enabling SMBs to leverage data and analytics to make informed decisions that set them up for success right from the beginning.
